Alex McKenna
Commander 2021-2023 - Army

Commander McKenna served in the Air Force from 1998 to 2002 as a KC-10 Aerospace Maintenance Journeyman and was stationed at Travis AFB in California. During his time in the Air Force Commander McKenna deployed to Al Dhafra Air Base, UAE in 2000 for Operation Southern Watch and then to Diego Garcia, BIOT in 2001/2002 for Operation Enduring Freedom. Commander McKenna also served in the Army Reserves from 2009 to 2020 as a 74D20 Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Specialist and deployed to Kandahar Afghanistan in 2011/2012.
 
After serving for over 15 years Commander McKenna was medically separated from the Army in February 2020. During his military career Commander McKenna was awarded two Army Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Medal and a Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Commander McKenna also earned the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Medal with Gold Border, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
 
In January of 2021 Commander McKenna began recruiting members for a brand new VFW Post in King George by starting the King George VFW Facebook page and within a month had over 30 individuals signed up to start a new post!
