Kevin Elliott
Service Officer - Army

Kevin Elliott is the Service Officer for VFW Post 12202.  He provides veterans and their family members with information on their benefits and acts as the liaison between individuals and the Department Service Officer to get them advice and information on filing claims for their benefits.
Kevin joined the Army in 1980, in San Antonio, Texas and completed Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia as an Infantryman.  Kevin served as an Armored Vehicle Driver, Anti-Tank Loader and Gunner, Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, Company Training Non-Commissioned Officer, Battalion Range and Ammunition Non-Commissioned Officer, Battalion Training Non-Commissioned Officer, Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Leader, First Sergeant, Brigade Movement Non-Commissioned Officer, Brigade Operations Non-Commissioned Officer, Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, and Installation and Corps Military Equal Opportunity Advisor, as well as the Primary Instructor at the Equal Opportunity Representative Courses at Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  Kevin retired from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 2006, as a Master Sergeant (E-8), having served for over 26 years on active duty.  

While in the Army, Kevin deployed to Saudi Arabia as part of Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm, to Haiti as part of Operation Uphold Democracy/United Nations Mission in Haiti, and to Yellowstone National Park to fight forest fires as part of Operation Big Sky.  Kevin served state-side tours at Fort Lewis, Washington (twice); Fort Polk, Louisiana; Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Fort Benning, Georgia; and Fort Bragg, North Carolina; as well as three overseas tours:  two in Germany and one in Korea.  Kevin participated in nineteen rotations at the Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, Louisiana, and three rotations and the Maneuver Training Center, Hohenfels, Germany, and numerous gunnery, maneuver, and evaluation exercises at Yakima Firing Center, Washington, Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, various National Guard Training Centers, and on posts where he was stationed.

Kevin is a retired Federal employee, having worked as an Employee Development Specialist at the Small Business Administration and the Federal Train Commission.  He and his wife Lynn live in King George.
